Greg Bice Leads On and Off the Field

Not only does defenseman Greg Bice work hard on the field, he also carries his work ethic off the field. Bice is the co-founder of Resolute Lacrosse here in Columbus, Ohio. Resolute Lacrosse organizes clinics, training sessions, lessons and camps for boys and girls.

“The most rewarding thing about teaching kids the game I love, is watching them grow and develop as people and watch them develop integrity and character on and off the field. We try to teach kids life through the sport,” said Bice. “As a kid I was very blessed to have such great coaches and mentors by my side and as of right now I’m just trying to give back and pay it forward.”

While he isn’t spending time with his teammates at the Machine or helping out at Resolute Lacrosse, he is giving back to the community locally and globally. Bice spends his time volunteering for the international non-profit organization Lacrosse the Nations. The purpose of the organization is to teach kids the game of lacrosse in countries that are not fortunate to have the opportunity to play.

“Resolute Lacrosse and Lacrosse the Nations are very different. With Lacrosse the Nations, we are focusing on kids everywhere, starting with the grassroots. We want kids to have good mentors, said Bice”. “One area we are focusing on and that I would love to see develop is a lacrosse team in the country I love, Honduras. Right now they do not have a team but we are working on developing one there.”

Bice believes that the more personal time you spend with the kids, the more they listen and the more it makes an impact on them. When it comes to the game of lacrosse, Bice admits he sometimes has to take his own advice on the field.

“The most important thing I’ve had to tell myself is surround yourself with good people who want to make you a better person. It’s not necessarily me calling myself out for the things I’ve done, but more to be accepting when you’re wrong. You need those good friends to tell you when you’re wrong and to help make you a better person.”
