2013 MLL Season:

Phipps played entire 60 minutes against the Rochester Rattlers (6/2) and had 15 saves of the 24 shots on goal, as well as tallying one groundball followed by playing the entire 60 minutes and having 14 saves of the 26 shots on goal, as well as tallying three groundballs against the Charlotte Hounds (6/8). Phipps played the entire 60 minutes against the Rochester Rattlers (6/15) and had 13 saves of the 23 shots on goal and played the entire 60 minutes against the Denver Outlaws (6/22) and had 14 saves of the 32 shots on goal, as well as tallying one groundball. Phipps played the entire 60 minutes and had nine saves of the 22 shots on goal against the Boston Cannons (6/29) followed by playing the entire 60 minutes and had 17 saves of the 30 shots on goal, as well as tallying one groundball against the Chesapeake Bayhwaks (6/7). Phipps played the entire 60 minutes against the Hamilton Nationals (7/20) and had 14 saves of the 24 shots on goal. Phipps played 59:33 minutes and had 13 saves of the 24 shots on goal, as well as tallying four groundballs against the Charlotte Hounds (7/27).

2012 MLL Season:

Brian Phipps has played in six games and  made his Ohio Machine debut against the Charlotte Hounds (5/12) splitting his game time with Stefan Schroder. Phipps made his first start with the Machine against the Denver Outlaws (6/9) making a season high 10 saves. Phipps made his second start of the season against the Hounds (6/23), allowing only 15 goals while making 11 saves. Against the Hamilton Nationals (7/13), Phipps only allowed 12 goals and made 18 saves, which is one away from his career high and was named Bud Light Player of the Game. Phipps brought his goals against average to a season low 12.8, when he only allowed  nine goals against the Chesapeake Bayhawks (7/21). In the team's first game against the Boston Cannons (8/4) and his last game of the season, Phipps tied a career high for saves in a game with 19.

2011 MLL Season:

Played in 10 games for Chesapeake. Led the team in minutes played (437:10), wins (4) and saves (117). Was named a 2011 MLL All-Star. Played 30 minutes tallied six saves from 11 shots on goal against Hamilton (5/19). Recorded 13 saves on 21 shots in 30 minutes of play and picked up one ground ball against Boston (6/4). Played 30 minutes and made six saves on 14 shots on goal against Long Island (6/16). Made 16 saves on 33 shots faced and picked up four ground balls against Boston (6/25). Made a career-high 21 saves on 32 shots on goal and totaled five ground balls against Rochester (7/2), earning MVP honors. Recorded 14 saves on 25 shots on goal and picked up two ground balls in 62:10 minutes against Hamilton (7/16). Made 12 saves on 27 shots on goal against Long Island (7/23). Tallied five saves on 15 shots in and picked up two ground balls in 30 minutes of action against Hamilton (7/30). Played 15 minutes, making five saves on eight shots and picked up one ground ball against Rochester (8/6). Tallied 19 saves on 34 shots on goal and picked up four ground balls against Denver (8/13).

 

College:

Played at the University of Maryland from 2007 to 2010. Finished his collegiate career with 446 saves and a 58.3 save percentage on top of picking up 119 ground balls on his way to a 31-11 record. Team captain in 2010 when he was named All-ACC. Named a preseason Third Team All-American in 2009 and preseason honorable mention All-American in 2008 and 2010. Named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2007 and 2008. Named the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2007. Helped Maryland to the NCAA Quarterfinals three straight years from 2008 to 2010. Started 14 games and recorded a team-high 131 saves on top of 32 ground balls as a senior. Tallied a career-high 17 saves against Penn (4/19/08) as a sophomore.

 

Personal:

Born in Annapolis, Md., to Wilson and Betty Phipps. His father was part of Maryland’s 1975 NCAA Championship team. His grandfather, Louis, also played for Maryland and was named an All-American in 1949. His mother played lacrosse as well as field hockey at Roanoke. Older brother, Michael, also played lacrosse at Maryland. Graduated with a degree in history before becoming Maryland’s first-ever full-time Director of Lacrosse Operations.
